Shabbat shalom! Friday, June 7

Friday we visited one of the coolest things in Poland. The Elblaski Canal features a unique transportation system found nowhere else in the world. It’s like boat meets railway. We took a leisurely ride and enjoyed the beautiful scenery with our Holocaust survivor friends.

The highlight of of the day, however, was our Shabbat meal and service. Kazik and his daughter Marta led us in Hebrew recitations and prayers before our special meal. During the service, Kazik and Maxim told the story of how the Holocaust survivor camp came to be, then honored people who were instrumental in its success over the last ten years. The evening concluded with a massive cake and dancing to traditional Jewish songs.
